One of the gifts we got when AE was born was an adorable dress.  It came from a shop in the quaint little village where Derek and I got married. Tucked inside the box was the business card of a photographer with a studio in that town.

AE was only a few days old when I contacted Lisa rather spontaneously. We bought a package of four sessions and booked our first appointment. (I knew we were in good hands when the preparation instructions she sent said that she would take breaks for the baby to nurse during the shoot.)

We loved her work immediately. She was so kind and patient. She had a special way of capturing AE’s spirit perfectly.

And, she gushed over AE’s “Hershey Kiss Eyes” as much as I do!

Between sessions, we would trade emails. Soon our messages about photo orders or scheduling were peppered with tales of the heart.

By our third session, I knew that Lisa was a kindred spirit in every sense of the word. We share so much in common. I adore her heart.

And, at the fourth session, AE was as comfortable with her as I was.

Earlier this week, we spent three hours together. As she patiently chased AE around trying to get her to hold still for some pictures, she and I talked life. And not the superficial life, but we shared our hearts. I’m so grateful that I know her.

Sure, partially because I get pictures like these.

But mostly because I get to call her friend.

I love how God peppers our lives with kindred spirits when we’re open enough with each other to discover we’re with one! I think Lisa is an amazing photographer! (But she does have exceptional material in AE!) 🙂

I think that God has a purpose greater than anyone can imagine for each of us. You and AE have enriched my life and i am forever grateful that i get to call YOU friend. I am humbled to be AE’s photographer because i have the unique privilege (and challenge) of trying to capture her ‘essence’…that part of her where her little soul lives. It truly makes me giddy. Love you both!

What a great story. It is so incredible to entrust and build a relationship with some one who is creating family heirlooms for generations to come. Your daughter is beautiful and how fun to share her growing images with the world. Lisa is incredibly talented but more than that enjoys watching her ‘clients’ grow.
